  April Fool’s Day. Would you have fallen for this? The Left-Handed Burger. In 1998, Burger King tricked customers with a full-page advert in USA Today. The ad plugged its ‘left-handed Whopper’. The burger had all the condiments and rotated 180 degrees for left-handed diners. Burger King broke the news with the line: ‘Everyone knows that it takes two hands to hold a Whopper!’

April 8. Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt, 1 pm, Imperial City Park. Storm date is April 15. Lions Club members will hide 4000 candy-filled plastic eggs, each also containing a quarter, donated by the Lions Club with local banks and credit services.

April Celebrations – 2017

April 13, 1915 The birthday of Robert S. “Bob” Devaney, who served as head football coach at the University of Nebraska from 1962 to 1972, with a career college football record of 136-30-7. His Cornhuskers won consecutive national championships in 1970 and 1971 and three consecutive Orange Bowls.

Devaney served as the athletic director at Nebraska from 1967 to 1993, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981. He died of a heart attack on May 9, 1997, and is buried at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln.

April 6 Centennial of the U.S. Entry into World War I – April 6, 1917
